Pin & Fun (“the app”) is a geography quiz and party game. We built it so that almost everything stays on your device. This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
1. Summary
- There is no account. You can play without signing up, and there is no account to create or delete (see Section 11).
- No ads, no tracking. We do not use advertising or tracking tools, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
- Most data stays on your device. Your names, face photos, nationality, detailed game history and settings are stored only on your device. The exception: if “Compare with everyone” is on, your Daily Pin score and your pack votes are sent to our server once our online service is available (Section 4).
- What we receive is kept small. Daily Pin scores are sent with a token that changes every day, and each pack vote with its own separate token. This data is never linked to your purchases, and it is deleted automatically after 90 days.
- You choose. You can turn “Compare with everyone” off at any time in Settings. In the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland it is off unless you turn it on.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

2. Information stored only on your device
The following is saved on your device and is not sent to us:
| Information | Why it is used | How to delete it |
|---|---|---|
| Profile name and nationality (optional) | Shown on your profile, at the top of the screen and, if you choose, on share cards | Edit or clear it in Profile → Edit profile (choose “Prefer not to say” to remove nationality), or delete the app |
| Names of players you add to a party | Turn screens, name tags, rankings | Not saved. They are kept only while the game is open, unless you save the player to your Quick Roster |
| Saved players (“Quick Roster”, up to 20): name, optional nationality and face photo, and their game records | One-tap setup next time | Long-press the player → Delete, or delete the app |
| Face photos (optional) | Placed on the 3D podium characters | See “Face photos” below |
| Game history (questions answered, accuracy, distances, levels, badges, Passport stamps, Daily Pin history, streaks, solo questions and Point & Find games played today) | Levels, tiers, statistics, badges and your Passport | Delete the app. (If “Compare with everyone” is on, your Daily Pin score and pack votes are also sent to our server, see Section 4.) |
| A random app ID, created on first launch (not your device’s serial number or advertising ID) | Keeps your game records in order on this device. It is not sent to us or anyone else. It is included in a backup file only if you export one | Delete the app |
| Settings (theme, sound, music, language, reminder time, chosen topics, the “Compare with everyone” switch) | Remember your preferences | Change them in Settings, or delete the app |
| Lists of comments, awards and lines already shown | Avoid repeating the same lines in every game (no names or scores) | Delete the app |
| Copy of your purchases, and the last time reported by the store | Unlock what you bought, even offline, and work out when a 6-month Pass ends | Delete the app (use Restore Purchases after reinstalling) |
| Your pack votes, and Daily Pin scores and votes waiting to be sent, with their tokens (only while “Compare with everyone” is on) | One vote per device; send results when the service can be reached | Turn off “Compare with everyone” to discard what is waiting; anything older than 90 days is removed, or delete the app |
| City you pick in Point & Find (if you don’t share location) | Remember your starting city | Pick another city or use your location, or delete the app |
Face photos. You crop each photo yourself using an on-screen oval. The photo is used only on your device to put your face on a cartoon character. The app also takes a single average skin-tone color from the photo to color the character. That color is calculated on your device and is not saved or sent. We do not perform face recognition, do not create face geometry or any other biometric identifiers, and never upload photos to us or to any AI service. Temporary photos are deleted when you leave the game or change or remove the photo. Photos of Quick Roster players are kept on your device until you replace the photo, delete that player, or delete the app. In rare cases, such as if the app closes unexpectedly, a temporary copy may stay in the app’s cache until your phone clears it. Deleting the app removes it.
Backup file. If you tap Export progress in Settings, the app creates a file with your game history, including your profile name, saved players’ names, nationality and game records, your Daily Pin history, badge and stamp dates, and the random app ID (but not face photos), and opens your phone’s share sheet. Where that file goes is your choice. Import progress reads only the file you pick.
Device language, region, time zone, model and memory. The app reads your device’s language (to choose English or Español), region (to choose the default for “Compare with everyone”, see Section 4), time zone (to suggest nearby cities in Point & Find) and model and memory (to choose graphics quality on the podium). These are read on the device and are not sent. Only the default for “Compare with everyone” is saved, as part of your settings.
3. Location and motion sensors (Point & Find)
The Point & Find mini-game asks you to point your phone toward a city.
- If you allow it, the app asks for your approximate location (about 2 miles / 3 km accuracy) when you play to work out the direction and distance to the city. Your phone may provide a more precise recent position. Your location is kept in memory only until the app closes and is never saved and never sent to us.
- The compass and motion sensors are read only while you play, to measure where you point. These readings are not saved or sent, and the app does not ask a separate permission for them.
- If you don’t allow location, you can choose a city instead and keep playing.
4. “Compare with everyone”: information sent to our server
Settings → Compare with everyone controls the only information the app sends to our server. It is used to show how everyone did on today’s Daily Pin and to count votes for the next region pack. These features work only once our online service is available. Until then, nothing is sent: your results and votes stay on your device, and results waiting to be sent are kept there for up to 90 days.
- Default setting. The switch is on by default, except for users whose device region is set to a country in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, where it is off until you turn it on.
- When it is off, nothing is sent. Your Daily Pin results and votes are shown and kept only on your device. Turning it off discards anything still waiting to be sent, and results from while it was off are not sent later.
When it is on, the app sends:
- Daily Pin: the date, your score and your total distance; and
- Pack votes: which poll it is and which option you chose.
How it is protected.
- Daily Pin results are sent with a token that changes every day, so your results on different days cannot be linked to each other.
- Each pack vote is sent with its own separate token for that poll.
- These tokens are not your name, Apple Account, Game Center ID, device serial number, advertising ID or the random app ID in Section 2. They are never linked to your RevenueCat or Game Center IDs, and we never combine this data with your purchase information.
- The information does not include your name, nationality, photos, location, contacts or advertising ID.
IP address. Like any internet connection, our cloud provider sees your device’s IP address when the information is sent. We do not store it with your scores or votes, and we do not use it to locate you or build a profile of you. It is kept only in short-lived security logs for up to 30 days.
Why we use it. Only to (a) show combined results (for example, “You did better than 72% of players today”) and vote totals, and (b) prevent cheating and abuse (for example, removing duplicate votes or impossible scores). We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store. We do not receive your name, payment card or billing address.
To confirm and restore purchases, we use RevenueCat, Inc., a purchase-management service that acts as our service provider. RevenueCat receives your purchase records (product, purchase and expiry dates, store transaction ID), a random app user ID that RevenueCat creates, and basic technical information sent with any app request (such as IP address, device model, operating system and app version, language and App Store country). We can see these purchase records in order to support you. They are not linked to your name, and they are not combined with your Daily Pin or vote data. If you contact support, you can choose to send us this ID (shown as Support ID at the bottom of Settings; tapping it only copies it) so we can find your purchase records. We use it only to answer your request. The app never sends it to us on its own. RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
6. Apple services
Promotional codes. If you enter a code under Have a code? and tap Redeem, the app passes the code to Apple by opening Apple’s own redemption screen. We do not store the code. Just before that, the app checks the connection by contacting Apple’s website (apps.apple.com); this request contains no information from the app. Apple handles redemption under its own policies.
7. Map images
When you zoom in on the globe or use live day and night, the app downloads satellite image tiles from NASA’s public map service (NASA GIBS). These requests contain only the map tile number. Like any internet request, NASA’s servers can see your IP address, under NASA’s own policies. Downloaded tiles are cached on your device. Satellite imagery courtesy of NASA. NASA does not endorse this app. Maps and place names in the app do not express any opinion about the legal status of any country, territory or border.
8. Permissions
| Permission | When it is asked | If you say no |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Only when you take a face photo | Play with a cartoon face, or choose a photo instead |
| Photos (choosing a photo) | No permission needed: the system photo picker shows only what you pick | — |
| Add to Photos (save only) | Only when you tap Save all on a share card. The app never reads your photo library | Saving is skipped; sharing still works |
| Location (while using) | Only when you start Point & Find | Choose your city instead |
| Notifications | After your first Daily Pin, or when you turn on reminders. A reminder that a 6-month Pass is ending uses this same permission and never asks on its own | No reminders; everything else works |
Notifications are scheduled on your device. We do not use remote push notifications. The app does not use the microphone.
9. Sharing
The app never posts anything on its own. Share cards are created on your device and sent only where you choose through your phone’s share sheet. Before sharing, you can hide scores, use cartoon faces instead of photos, and hide your flag.
10. Children
Pin & Fun is a general-audience party and trivia game that families can enjoy together. It is not directed to children under 13, and it does not require an account or ask for anyone’s age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Names and photos entered in the app stay on the device.
The only information the app sends to our server is described in Section 4. We use it only to support the internal operations of the app: showing combined results and vote totals, and preventing cheating and abuse. We do not use it for advertising, to build profiles, or to contact anyone, and it is deleted automatically after 90 days (Section 11).
Purchases require an Apple Account and are controlled by the account holder. Parents can use Apple’s Family Sharing, Ask to Buy and Screen Time controls, can turn off Compare with everyone in Settings, and can delete all on-device data by deleting the app. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at support@onexistech.com and we will delete it.
11. Data retention and deletion
- There is no account, so there is no account to delete. We do not store your name, email or profile on a server.
- Information on your device stays until you delete it or delete the app. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device (except a backup file you saved elsewhere). You can also remove individual items as shown in Section 2. To ask about anything else, email support@onexistech.com.
- Daily Pin scores and pack votes on our server are deleted automatically after 90 days. We may keep combined statistics (for example, average scores or vote totals) that cannot be linked to any person or token.
- Security logs that include IP addresses are kept for up to 30 days.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat for as long as needed to provide and restore purchases and to meet legal and tax obligations.
- Deleting the app does not immediately delete server data. To stop sending data, turn off Compare with everyone; data already sent is deleted automatically within 90 days.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent where we rely on it. California residents may also ask what categories of personal information we collect and how we use it. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Most of your information is stored only on your device, and you control it directly (see Section 2). For our server, you can stop all uploads at any time by turning off Compare with everyone. Because Daily Pin scores and votes are sent with tokens that change every day or every poll and are not linked to you, we usually cannot find which records are yours, and so we may not be able to act on a request for specific records. They are deleted automatically after 90 days. For purchase records, contact us and we will help with requests to RevenueCat; Apple handles its own records.
To make a request or ask a question, email support@onexistech.com. We will respond within the time the law requires (for example, one month under the GDPR, or 45 days under California law).
13. Users in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland
Onexis Technologies, LLC is the controller of the information described in Sections 4 and 5. We rely on these legal bases:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for Daily Pin score and vote uploads. In these regions, “Compare with everyone” is off until you turn it on. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning it off; this does not affect uploads made before.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to keep the service secure and prevent cheating and abuse, including the short-lived security logs in Section 4. Outside these regions, we also rely on legitimate interests for Daily Pin score and vote uploads. Our interest is offering these shared features, and we minimize the data (rotating tokens, no name).
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): to deliver and restore your purchases and subscriptions (Section 5).
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): where we must keep records, for example for tax purposes.
Information that stays only on your device (Sections 2–3) is not collected by us.
You have the rights listed in Section 12, and you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to help first at support@onexistech.com.
14. California and other US states
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California and other US state privacy laws. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. In the last 12 months we collected, or will collect once the services described are active, these categories: identifiers (rotating tokens, IP address in security logs, RevenueCat’s random app user ID), commercial information (purchase records), and internet or other electronic network activity (Daily Pin scores and votes). We collected them for the purposes in Sections 4–5 and disclosed them only to our service providers (our cloud provider and RevenueCat).
Do Not Track. The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, so it does not respond differently to “Do Not Track” signals. We do not allow third parties to collect information about your activity across other apps or websites through Pin & Fun.
15. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers (our cloud provider and RevenueCat) may process information in the United States and other countries. When information from the EU/EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and their UK and Swiss equivalents) in our providers’ data processing terms. Contact us for more information.
16. Security
Data on your device is protected by your device’s security. Data sent to our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to our server is limited to people who need it to run the app.
17. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the dates above and post the new version at https://onexistech.com/apps/pin-and-fun/privacy/. For material changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
18. Translations
This policy may be available in other languages. If translations differ, the English version controls, except where local law requires otherwise.
